The ⇒ITI/UNESCO Network for Higher Education in the Performing Arts is a joint initiative of UNESCO and ITI together with higher education and research institutions. It was built in alignment with the guidelines and procedures of the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chair and Network Program. The Network´s main focus is higher education in the performing arts – drama, theatre, dance, music theatre, playwriting and all related performing arts disciplines.
With the 2018 Conference and Second General Assembly of the ITI/UNESCO Network for Higher Education in the Performing Arts in Shanghai, China the Network expanded from 20 to more than 40 institutions including the World Theatre Training Institute AKT-ZENT.
Christine Schmalor, WTTI’s programme director is elected member of the newly established board.
In May 2020, the network proposed to launch a ⇒Worldwide Platform of the ITI/UNESCO Network: Performing Arts in and Beyond the Timeof COVID-19
In June 2020, the World Theatre Training Institute organises the online conference about new diemension in theatre training Challenges of the Mind.
